Like all Expos 20 sections, the *Why Shakespeare?* section is divided into three units. First, we do [a close reading](/why-shakespeare/units/unit-1), a detailed analysis of some fairly specific aspect of a single text. Second, we do [a comparative paper](/why-shakespeare/units/unit-2) in which students learn to negotiate multiple texts and contexts, both historical and theoretical. Third, we do [a research paper](/why-shakespeare/units/unit-3) in which students use the library to discover and interpret texts of their own choosing as well as the pertinent scholarly conversations.
